De-poofed

Marley Marley: Summer makes me happy with all the sunpuddles,
but my coat gets kind of skimpy.

Marley the poofball This is me the rest of the year, Mom calls me a poofball.

Marley I guess I’ll have to wait for Fall to come to get my poofball status back.
Here in Texas, Fall is still a good couple of months away.
Are any of you seeing signs of Fall yet?

Litter thankful

We heard about using horse bedding pellets
for cat litter on one of the cat blogs and decided to give it a try.

This is what it looks like when you open the bag.

And this is what it looks like when it gets damp.
It basically breaks down into a kind of sawdust.
Positives: No Dust!
No litter glitter being tracked all over.
Naturally neutralizes odors.
Is made from pine shavings and sawdust from lumber mills that otherwise would be thrown out.
Much better for landfills than clumping litter.
Basically earth friendly.
Only $5.99 for a 40 lb. bag.
Negatives: It takes a good while for the cats and their peeps to get used to.
My advice is to slowly incorporate it into litter boxes, don’t rush it.
Mix it in with your current litter
and slowly increase the pellets and decrease your current litter.
It has been over 2 months since we started
and it is well worth the headache of adjusting to this as an alternative litter.
A huge thanks to the cat blog FULL PAW for the recommendation – we couldn’t be happier!
