Angel Appie

Angel Appie Our sweet Appie has crossed the Rainbow Bridge.
Our work of art, our clown cat, our exuberant, playful, funny, loving girl has left us.
We are heart broken.
We are taking comfort in the knowledge that she is now beyond pain and she will never again have to take those trips to the Vet that scared her so much.
She has family at the end of that bridge to welcome her, I’m sure they are playing together and rolling in fields of nip.
We love you sweet girl!

A tale of two Moms

Miss Harriet sitting on the quilt with her daughter Gemma on the chest. Tale #1 – The Quilt
My mom is not a craftsy person, and she doesn’t like to sew. But several years back, she wanted to give me and my brother an heirloom that she had made. So she took some classes and spent over a year hand stitching two queen size quilts for us for Christmas.
I would have been impressed and touched had she done one quilt square and framed it, but she did those two large quilts for us.
What an amazing Mom!
Tale #2 – Miss Harriet
Miss Harriet was a feral queen who had several litters, all of which we were able to trap. It took us a while to finally trap Miss Harriet. The last wild litter she had, we trapped the kittens and they stood at the window looking out at her and crying at the tops of their lungs. She tried to get in and couldn’t. We tried to entice her in through the door, but she wouldn’t come in.
She came back with a dead mouse in her mouth and set it down in front of the window where her kits were still crying. She looked up at them, and then looked up into my tear stained face as if to say, ‘my kits are crying, they must be hungry, I brought food.’
No matter what walk of life, color, creed or species – mothers are the most incredible beings on earth.
Happy Mother’s Day everyone!
